Usable stock length removes the entered trim from both ends. Piece fit includes one kerf between adjacent pieces. The stock count is the larger of the fit requirement and your percentage allowance.

Use this for equal repeated pieces

The calculator first checks how many finished pieces fit into the usable stock after end trim and kerf. It also checks that the purchased stock covers the entered percentage allowance, then uses whichever requirement is larger.

This is not a mixed-length cutting optimiser. Check defects, angled ends, machining allowances and the real cut order before buying or cutting.

Worked example

Twelve 850 mm pieces total 10.20 m. With 10% extra length the planning total is 11.22 m. A 2400 mm length with 10 mm trimmed from each end holds two 850 mm pieces after one 3.2 mm kerf, so six stock lengths are needed, not five.
